Antique textiles and original goods

Welcome

Each piece in P A T R I Æ's collection of antique hemp and linen textiles is lovingly sourced in Eastern and Central Europe. Historically each family in this region harvested their own hemp and flax, homespun them into threads, then wove them into fabrics that were hand sewn into clothes, and home and field goods such as towels, tablecloths, pillows, bedding, grain sacks, and wagon covers.

In rural areas, this tradition continued into the middle of the 20th century, hence the textiles in the P A T R I Æ collection were handwoven between the mid-19th and the mid-20th century.

They are completely organic as pesticides and other farming chemicals were not yet introduced to this region.

The original goods in the collection are designed to highlight the character of the fabric. Simple bags, pouches, aprons, beach blankets, and runners continue in the tradition of local production, handcraft, and functional design.
